About Our Products

ColourSpun yarn, fabrics and threads are created by hand. We hand dye only the finest quality, locally produced fibres in our studio. We are proud to have been awarded the seals of quality for our Cotton, Merino and Mohair from the relevant local authorities. In order to ensure that all our products are earth friendly, we use dyes that have GOTS and Bluesign approval and conform to Oeko-tex standards. Over the years, we have developed a process that uses mainly solar energy and the minimum amount of water. All of this keeps our business earth friendly and sustainable.
We have 100% cotton yarn in a range of different weights. Also, Merino wool roving and yarn, kid mohair and some luxury blends. Plus, 100% pure cotton fabric and non mercerised embroidery thread in #8 and #5. All are available in the same range of colours as our yarn – now over 500 different colours!
Our yarns are all balled, for your convenience, and ready to use. We check and double check for colour fastness and to ensure that there are no knots. A little sticker marks the start of each ball to make it easy to find, so you can get straight to crafting, without any frustration. Embroidery threads wound onto bobbins and are ready to use too!
Our signature will always be yarn, fabric and thread that is different, available in a huge range of colours; each cake/ball, piece and bobbin filled with a special energy and having its own character.

Important Information
All our orders are individually hand dyed with love and care, but because of the nature of the process, colour variation is normal. We do everything we can to keep our colours as close as possible to our originals, but no two dye lots can be exactly alike.
Each dyebath is affected by several variables that are mostly out of our control. To name a few –
Water used – the “contents” of water are ever changing.
Dye powder – there are variations in each new batch.
Ambient temperature and the temperature of the water.
Minute variations when measuring the amount of everything that goes into a dyebath.
These type of dye variations in no way should be treated as defective and we encourage you to embrace the unique character of each piece. We also encourage you to always make sure that you order enough to complete your project!

We make every effort to display our product and colour swatch images on our website as accurately as possible. We carefully edit our photos to show the colour swatches as true to life as possible. Unfortunately, there are multiple factors that affect colour display, none of which we have any control over.
Every computer monitor displays colours differently. This is due in part to the brightness and colour settings of the screen (blue light filters etc). Light washing over the screen depending on the time of day, the brightness of the room and contamination from other light sources also affect what is seen.
Each individual’s ability to perceive colour, tiredness and eye fatigue means everyone sees colours differently.
All of this means that we cannot guarantee that the colour you see accurately portrays the true colour of the product. Swatch colours, especially online photos, are meant to be used as a guide.
