Hi, Hello, Dumela, Sawubona from us all,<\/p>

Together, we’re the ColourSpun team, a hand dyed natural yarn studio in South Africa with a passion for colour and sustainable fibre.<\/p>

All of us live in Heidelberg, a small town not too far from Johannesburg in Gauteng. The weather here is ideal for our sustainable artisan dye business. The sun shines most of the year, with hot summers and not too cold winters. Although we do sometimes have days of rain, it’s more usual to have short highveld storms.<\/p>

We work hard to keep our yarn, fabric and threads as earth friendly as possible. We source all our fibre locally in order to reduce our carbon footprint. To ensure our products are hypoallergenic, we use only the best quality dyes that meet GOTS, Oeko-tex and Blue sign specifications. The dye process we have developed requires the minimum amount of water. Solar ovens are our main heat source. The packaging we use is recyclable and we keep it to the minimum.<\/p>

Every skein, length of fabric and bundle of thread that leaves our studio has been hand dyed by someone on this small team. Not on a production line. We believe that care shows in the finished colour, and in how the yarn feels in your hands once it arrives.<\/p>
